6、 about the affair.不久他就把事情告诉了我们。 (2)since后面所用动词不同,该动词所表示动作持续时间的计算方法也不同。Error! It is two years since he joined the army. 他参军两年了。 It is two years since he smoked. 他戒烟已两年了。- 2 -(3)till与 until的用法区别till与 until意义相同,经常可以互换。till 比较口语化,until 比较正式。如果主句谓语动词是持续性的,用肯定形式,表示“一直到” ;如果主句谓语动词是瞬间性的,则用否定形式,表示“直到才” 。在强调句
7、中或者当否定形式位于句首时,通常用 until。He worked in the school until he was 50.他在学校工作到 50岁。They didnt begin to work until the teacher came.老师来了他们才开始工作。2原因状语从句在表示原因时,because 语气最重,其次是 as,since,now that,故在回答 why问句或者在强调句对原因进行强调时,只能用 because。for 是并列连词,表示推测的理由或者进一步说明,不能放在句首,for 前要用逗号。Why were you absent?你为何没来?Because I
8、was ill.因为我病了。3目的状语从句(1)so that/in order that引导的目的状语从句中的谓语动词多用can/could/may/might/will/would动词。Please turn off the light so that I can go to sleep.请关上灯,以便我能入睡。(2)for fear that,in case,lest 表示“以防” 、 “免得” 。He is working hard for fear that he should fail.他正努力工作,以防失败。4条件状语从句(1)providing/provided (that)假
9、如,假若Providing (that) no one has further questions,the meeting will be over.假如大家没有别的问题,就散会。(2)on the understanding thaton condition that 在条件下I give you money on the understanding that you finish your homework.我给你钱,条件是你完成作业。5结果状语从句(1)注意 such引导的结果状语从句与定语从句的区别。试比较:This is such an interesting book that e
10、veryone likes to read it.这是一本如此有趣的书,以致于人人喜欢读。This is such an interesting book as everyone likes to read.这是一本人人都爱读的如此有趣的书。(2)many,no,all,other,few 与 such连用时,放在 such的前面。There were many such cakes that I didnt know which one to choose.有许多这样的蛋糕,以致于我不知选哪个。6目的状语从句与结果状语从句的区别in order that可放在句首,只能引导目的状语从句;so
11、 that 引导目的或结果状语从句,不能放在句首。试比较:He spoke so slowly that we all followed him.(结果状语从句)He spoke slowly,so we all followed him.他说得很慢,以便我们都能理解(他的话)。He spoke slowly so (in order) that we could all understand him.(目的状语从句)他说得很慢,以致于我们都能理解(他的话)。7让步状语从句(1)as引导让步状语从句,作“尽管”解,用倒装句,语序为:状语/宾语/表语/动词原形as主语谓语。如果句首是单数可数名词
12、作表语,名词前无冠词。Clever as you may be,you cant do that.尽管你聪明,你做不了那事。Clever boy as he is,he cant solve the problem.尽管他是聪明的男孩,他也不能解决这道难题。(2)while有时引导让步状语从句,作“尽管” 、 “虽然”讲,多用于句首。While I admit the problems are difficult,I dont agree that I cant solve them.尽管我承认问题很棘手,我不认为我解决不了。8地点状语从句多由 where和 wherever引导。Where
13、there is a will,there is a way.有志者事竟成。9方式状语从句方式状语从句常由 as(按照),just as(正像),as ifas though(仿佛,好像;从句可用虚拟语气)等引导。I changed my mind as you suggested.按照你的建议我改变了我的主意。10状语从句的省略现象(1)在有些时间、地点、条件、方式或让步状语从句中,如果从句的主语与主句主语一致,从句谓语又包含动词 be,就可以省略从句中的“主语be”部分。When (he was) still a boy of ten,he had to work day and nigh
