1、Do some Major have a gender bias?Some majors attract more women,and some attract more men. Perhaps its genetically predisposed or a result of gender-biased education. As journalism major at Temple University, the majority of my classmates were women. It wasnt an overwhelming percentage, but close to
2、 65.The curriculum was challenging, and the professors were all lifters in the journalism field. From the basic introductory classes to the upper-level courses, each professor pushed for higher-quality writing, more attention to accuracy and detail, and a healthy respect for the grammar police.By my
3、 senior year, I had forged close relationship with the professors in the department. I was a conscientious student. I completed my homework on the subway, and sometimes in the few minutes before class started, usually with an A result every time.One of my professors had conference with each student
4、to discuss their strengths and weaknesses, and my conference was nothing but a glowing review. I was asked to tutor other students and I gladly complied. Someone in the journalism department had decided that I was the most promising student. Im not sure which professor, but I had a guardian angel.Th
5、en, I noticed that several women in my classes also were experiencing a similar phenomenon. But the men in my classes were struggling, barely making the grade. Was it gender discrimination or were the female student simply superior writer? I think a combination of both was at play.While my friends w
6、ho were majoring in biology and engineering lamented that professors held the male students in higher regard, I experienced the opposite situation.My professors, both men and women, consistently made comments about the superiority of the female students. 13、e money for college on my own Finally, I was off to college. Thanks to some careful savings, I did not have to work during the first school year. Then, summer hit and it was time to work harder than ever. I continued working as a waiter at night, as a tennis instructor during several mornings a week
14、 and worked as a secretary for a few hours in the afternoons. Being a little overzealous, I decided to also take a class at a community college. This class at the community college saved me $ 650. It was an exhausting summer and made me anxious to return to my relatively easy life at college. During

This provided a little spending money and kept me from draining my savings. The overall situation looked hopeful as I approached my senior year as long

One of my concerns about this trip was not only the cost, but the loss of time to make money; however, I made as much that summer in the ten weeks when I was at home as I had made during the fourteen weeks when I was at home the s

It is not unusual to see the college students taking a part time jobs as a warming up for the real battle.I often see my friends taking GRE tests, w
22、orking on English or computer certificates and taking the driving licence to get a licence. Well, I have nothing against being practical. practical. As the competition in the job market gets more and more intense, studentsdo have reasons to be practical. However, we should never forget that college
23、education is much more than skill training. Just imagine, if your utilitarianism is prevails on campus, living no space for the cultivation of their students minds,or nurturing of their soul. We will see university is training out well trained spiritless working machines.If utilitarianism prevails s
24、ociety, we will see people bond by mind-forged medicals lost in the money-making ventures;we will see dignity, humality lossing their grace and dignity, and that would be disastrous.Id like to think society as a courage and people persumed for profit or fame as a horese that pulls the courage.Yet wi
25、thout the driver picking direction the courage would go straight and precarious may even end out in a precarious situation .A certificate may give you some advantage, but broad horizons, positive attitudes and personal integrities ,these are assets you cannot acquire through any quick fixed way.Intodays world, whether highest level of competition is not of skills or expertise , but vision and strategy. Your intellectual quality largely determinds how far you can go in your career.
