Her family often made life more difficult; they told her she would be a failure. During those dark days, she talked with her great-grandmother. Jessi
21、e shared, “My great-grandmother told me, You shouldnt question your life. You were put on this earth for a reason. You shouldnt take away the life you were given. It was what I needed to hear at that time. I was fortunate enough to have talked to her the way I did.”We as Native peoples have gone thr
22、ough much adversity(困境), yet we have persevered(坚持). Its because we have the ability to transform the negative into the positive. Its the belief that we have to move forward, for our people and future generations.I often ask Native students why they are in college. Most tell me their purpose is to h
23、elp our people. Many Natives see that the possibilities for a promising future rely upon obtaining a college degree. If you have yet to consider these reasons for attending and graduating from college, think about these transformative intentions.College may seem like a lonely journey, but remember y
24、oure not alone. Many of us are praying for you, willing to listen to your experiences, and can help remind you about why you are on this journey.
